The client provided specific targets for storage slot sizes and quantities, but spatial constraints required us to adapt creatively. Our goal was to maximize capacity while ensuring safety and usability.

Our Solution: A Multi-Zone Honeycomb Rack System

After analyzing the client’s needs, we engineered a honeycomb storage system customized for each zone. Here’s how we addressed the challenge:

Zone 1: High-Capacity Storage

  • Dimensions: Width ~35 ft, Height 18-20 ft.
  • Slot Size: 3 ft x 3 ft.
  • Configuration: 4 layers x 8 columns = 32 slots (client target: 36).
  • Notes: Limited by width, we optimized for 32 slots, delivering robust storage for larger bundles of steel pipes.

Zone 2: Compact Efficiency

  • Dimensions: Width ~9 ft, Height 18-20 ft.
  • Slot Size: 2 ft x 2 ft.
  • Configuration: 3 layers x 7 columns = 21 slots (client target: 20).
  • Notes: Exceeding the target by 1 slot, this zone offers flexibility for smaller pipe bundles in a narrow space.

Zone 3: Low-Height Solution

  • Dimensions: Width ~10 ft, Height 8-10 ft.
  • Slot Size: 2 ft x 1.5 ft.
  • Configuration: 4 layers x 3 columns = 12 slots (client target: 20).
  • Notes: Height constraints limited us to 12 slots, but the design still provides efficient storage for this compact area.

Additional Request

  • Slot Size: 5 ft x 5 ft, Target: 20 slots.
  • Outcome: No space remained to accommodate this larger configuration, but we prioritized the client’s core needs across the three zones.

  • Finish: Electrostatic powder coating in RAL7016 (Anthracite Grey) for slots and RAL2008 (Bright Red Orange) for frames—customizable to suit any style.

While we couldn’t meet every target (e.g., 36 slots in Zone 1 or 20 in Zone 3), our design maximized usable space without compromising safety or quality—proof of our practical, client-focused approach.
