3D CAD model of 4112mm long mobile cantilever rack showing linked dual-unit configuration with casters

The Core Challenge

The factory needed one mobile rack layout that could handle long material turnover without locking the operation into a single fixed rack size. The real problem was not simple storage — it was how to move 6.5-meter stock when needed, while still keeping day-to-day handling flexible for shorter material.

Technical Parameters

Parameter Value
Linked overall length 4112 mm
Linked overall width 1000 mm
Linked overall height 1400 mm
Single unit length 1800 mm
Single unit width 1000 mm
Single unit height 1400 mm
Caster diameter 150 mm
Caster installation height 188 mm
Bottom arm width 1200 mm
Middle arm width 750 mm
Top arm width 600 mm
Upright tube height at each level 150 mm

Solution Structure

The proposed solution uses a dual-sided structure with three arm levels and two uprights. The rack is designed as a detachable linked structure. When longer stock needs to be turned over, two rack units can be connected with rods and bolts. When shorter material needs to move, the units can be separated and used independently.

Single Unit Configuration

One single mobile cantilever rack unit measures 1800 mm in total length, 1000 mm in total width, and 1400 mm in total height.

Arm Width by Level

The bottom level width is 1200 mm, the middle level width is 750 mm, and the top level width is 600 mm. The upright tube height at each level is 150 mm.

Caster Configuration

The caster diameter is 150 mm and the installation height is 188 mm. Swivel caster braking can be configured with either a top brake or a side brake. After linking, the combined structure is intended for 6.5-meter raw material turnover.

Packaging and Transportation

The uprights can be detached and stacked on the base. The casters may be shipped installed or removed. For larger quantities, removing the casters is recommended. After wrapping with stretch film, the rack can be packed in cartons.

Operations Insight: The commercial value of this layout comes from one operational gain: the rack does not force the factory to choose between a long dedicated turnover structure and a shorter flexible unit. Two units can link for 6.5-meter material, then separate for shorter stock. That cuts wasted floor space, avoids overbuilding a fixed rack for every job, and keeps material movement more adaptable in daily production.

Risk Assessment & Maintenance

  • Because the load extends outward, care should be taken to avoid impacts against exposed pipe ends during movement.
  • Uprights and other structural parts should be checked regularly for bending, deformation, or weld cracking.
  • All nuts should be checked and tightened regularly to prevent loosening.
  • If one rack unit uses two directional wheels and two swivel brake casters, independent movement is workable, but once two units are linked the directional wheels can affect the turning path of the combined structure.
  • The recommended adjustment is to use two swivel casters and two swivel brake casters.
