The “Pallet Sprawl” Trap
The standard wooden pallet is the enemy of floor space efficiency. Because sheet metal is heavy and slippery, you can rarely stack pallets more than two or three high without creating a safety hazard or crushing the bottom material. As a result, your inventory spreads horizontally across the factory floor like a slow-moving flood.
Umschaltung erfolgt. vertikale Blechlagerung system, you change the geometry of your warehouse. Instead of spreading out, you build up. A single rack unit can safely hold the equivalent of 20 floor pallets in a footprint that is only slightly larger than one pallet. This consolidation immediately reclaims hundreds of square feet of prime production real estate.
Calculating Revenue Per Square Meter
Every square meter of your shop floor has a dollar value. If that space is occupied by static piles of steel, it is costing you money (rent + overhead). If that same space is occupied by a new press brake or a welding station, it is generating revenue.
Implementing vertical racks allows you to swap low-value storage space for high-value production space. We have seen clients cancel plans for a $50,000 facility expansion simply by installing two rack units. The racks condensed their material storage into a corner, freeing up enough central floor space to add a second laser cutter, effectively doubling their throughput without changing their address.
Organizing the “Bone Yard”
In small shops, offcuts and remnants (the “bone yard”) are often the biggest space wasters. They get leaned against walls, tucked under tables, or piled in corners. Not only does this look unprofessional to visiting clients, but it also makes the material impossible to inventory.
Vertical drawers provide a disciplined home for these remnants. Because the drawers have solid bottoms and sides, even irregular shapes can be stored neatly. By organizing remnants by thickness and material type in labeled drawers, you ensure they are actually used for small parts rather than purchasing new sheets, further maximizing the value extraction from your limited space.
Accessibility in Tight Quarters
One of the biggest challenges in a crowded shop is maneuvering a forklift. Wide aisles are required to turn and access floor stacks, consuming even more space.
The rollout design of our racks is perfect for tight quarters. Because the drawers extend 100% out of the rack structure, you can access materials using an overhead crane or a vacuum lifter. This reduces the need for wide forklift aisles between storage rows. You can position the racks closer to walls or other equipment, tightening up your layout layout significantly.
Häufig gestellte Fragen
1. Was ist die maximale höhe des regalsystems?
Standard units are typically 2.5 to 3.5 meters high to fit under most standard industrial ceilings. However, we can customize the height to utilize your facility’s full vertical clearance, up to 6 meters if needed.
2. My floor is old. Can it support the weight?
The system does exert high point loads. We require a standard reinforced industrial concrete floor (typically 150mm thick). We can provide load distribution plates if your floor specs are marginal.
3. How much aisle space do I need in front of the rack?
You only need enough space to fully extend the drawer plus a safe working zone for the operator. This is significantly less than the turning radius required for a forklift to access a pallet rack.
4. Is it difficult to install in an operational shop?
The modular design allows for quick assembly. Most units can be installed in 1-2 days. We can schedule installation during downtime or weekends to minimize disruption to your ongoing production.
5. Can I move the racks if I eventually do relocate?
Yes. The racks are bolted, not welded, to the floor. They are fully dismountable and can be packed up and moved to a new facility, making them a long-term asset that travels with your business.
